Computer Algebra

 

In the winter term the lecture Computeralgebra is held by Professor Ghislain Fourier. The lecture is a elective module for the Bachelor's program in Mathematics.

The aim of the lecture is the study of fundamental algebraic structures. Therefore we will get to know the ring theory and structure theorems for modules. Afterwards we will throw a first glance at the theory of fields and field extensions. In this context we will offer a short introduction into algebraic varieties and we will trate algorithms to determine Gröbner-bases. Finally, we will get to know the fundamental elements of group theory and their applications.
